Blue Jays infielder Ernie Clement is engaged to girlfriend Stefanie Brejcha.
The news came out through Faith Reilly, wife of Clement's close friend and former teammate Joey Loperfido.
Reilly shared on an Instagram story that Brejcha was showing off the ring Clement gave her.
Loperfido was traded back to the Astros in the offseason, but the group clearly still stays connected.
This isn't the first time engagement rumors surfaced for the couple. Similar chatter popped up back in May, just a bit early on the timing.
This time, it appears to be the real thing.
Clement's personal news arrives during one of the better recent career arcs in the sport.
How Clement went from cut player to All-Star vote leader
The 30-year-old Rochester, N.Y. native was a fourth-round Cleveland draft pick before getting cut by that organization and later the Athletics.
Toronto signed him in 2023 with limited expectations attached.
A torrid 59-game stretch that season changed everything, and he became a key piece of Toronto's stunning 2025 run that came agonizingly close to a World Series title.
This season brought another surprise. Clement led all American League players in All-Star voting, topping three million votes and booking his trip to the Midsummer Classic.
He backed that up on the field too, making two strong defensive plays during the actual All-Star Game.
Brejcha's influence has apparently extended beyond the ring. Clement told MLB Network months ago that she introduced him to reading, a new hobby away from the diamond.
"My girlfriend just got me into reading, so that's a little bit different," Clement said. "I used to just love golf."
"She's the best. You know it's a special girl when she puts a book in your hands and you listen."
For a player whose career path once looked over before it really started, this engagement adds another good chapter to a story that keeps getting better.
